the first day of 2017

"It was only a sunny smile, and it cost little in the giving, but like morning light it scattered the night, and made the day worth living.”
as the sun set on the first day of the new year, i took a deep long breath and felt myself stand on the same cold ground my body will someday return to. today was a tiny a pause, a moment between last year and tomorrow. 
i am moving into this orbit around our sunstar with my heart exploding with gratitude for the lessons of the year i leave behind. i am grateful for a year that taught me self love and radical self honesty. i am saying goodbye to a year that taught me that love wins, and that miracles do exist. a year that showed me that giggles, ice cream and salt water can cure almost anything. closing a chapter that showed me that even the deepest wounds heal.
